This ranking system aims to promote fair competition, reward real progress, and ensure that tournaments are entertaining and balanced for all skill levels.
Rankings are updated periodically
Rankings are updated every 1 to 2 weeks.
During this period, you will play all your tournaments with the same ranking. After the update, you will start playing with your new score.
For tournaments lasting more than a week, the initial ranking you registered with will be used throughout the tournament's duration.
Each match played affects the player's ranking. The system is inspired by an ELO-type system, where the point difference between both pairs defines how much is gained or lost.

In Onpadel's ranking system, each player's skill level is measured individually, but competitions are played in doubles. This means every player has a personal score that determines their division.
There are two types of tournaments based on how pair eligibility is validated:
In Standard Division tournaments, each player must belong to the tournament's division or a lower one.
Example: in a 5th division tournament, players from 5th and lower divisions (6th, 7th, 8th, etc.) can participate.
In Sum X tournaments, the sum of both players' divisions must be equal to or greater than the target number.
Example: in a 'Sum 10' tournament, valid pairs are 5th+5th, 4th+6th, 3rd+7th or 2nd+8th, but not 4th+5th (sum 9).
This provides greater flexibility when forming doubles teams, while maintaining competitive fairness.
A player without ranking can register in any division for their first tournament, but the tournament staff may intervene if they consider the chosen level does not match the player's actual skill.
When creating a tournament, the organizer chooses the group stage format. There are currently two options available:
Teams are organized into groups, primarily of 3 (sometimes 4). Within each group, everyone plays everyone.
Teams are organized into groups, primarily of 4 (sometimes 3). In groups of 4, a mini-bracket format is used where each team plays exactly 2 matches.
Mini bracket structure (groups of 4):
Round 1
Match 1: Team 1 vs Team 2
Match 2: Team 3 vs Team 4
Round 2 (depends on Round 1 results)
Match 3: Winner(M1) vs Loser(M2)
Match 4: Winner(M2) vs Loser(M1)
Group standings
In both formats, standings are determined by: matches won, head-to-head result, game difference, and tiebreakers. The final group position determines seeding in the knockout bracket: group winners face the lowest-ranked qualifiers from other groups.
When registering for your first tournament, you are assigned an estimated score based on the chosen division. This score is used for seeding (group formation).
After the tournament ends, Onpadel staff reviews your performance and assigns an official initial score based on your observed level.
From that initial score, all matches you played in the tournament are computed to calculate your final ranking.
This assignment is at the discretion of Onpadel staff.
Players automatically move up or down divisions based on their current score.
The points system progressively reflects whether they are ready for a higher category or need to return to a lower one.
There is a 15-minute tolerance from the scheduled match time.
After 15 minutes, you will lose the match 6-0 in all sets. This result will impact your ranking as a normal loss.
If the tournament hasn't started, the organizer can remove you from registration. Refund is at the organizer's discretion.
If the tournament has already started and you fail to attend, you will lose all your matches by W.O. and this will negatively impact your ranking.

System manipulation will be sanctioned and may affect the player or their team.
At all times, the staff reserves the right to adjust scores or categories to preserve competitive balance.
The system may be adjusted over time to improve the experience.
The goal is to encourage participation, reward real progress, and maintain competition that is fun and fair for everyone.
